The SEO score
The SEO score is a rating from 0 to 100 that evaluates in real-time the quality of your article for natural referencing. It is displayed as a gauge in the editor's SEO panel.
Reading the gauge
The gauge is a colored arc that displays your percentage:
- 67 to 100% (green): your article is well optimized for SEO.
- 34 to 66% (orange): improvements are recommended.
- 0 to 33% (red): critical issues need to be fixed.
The score updates in real-time with every change to your content.
How the score is calculated
The score starts at 100 and deducts penalties based on 5 categories:
1. SEO title and description
- Critical Problem: title or description empty, way too long.
- Warning: title or description slightly too short/long, keyword missing or misplaced.
Recommendations:
- Title: between 30 and 70 characters, keyword at the beginning.
- Description: between 50 and 160 characters, keyword present.
2. Overall document evaluations
Weighted penalties are applied for document-level issues:
- Word count
- Keyword density
- Keyword in the intro
- Keyword in subtitles
- Headings
- Paragraphs
- Internal links
- External links
- Images
- Readability (Flesch)
- Sentence length
- Passive voice
- Transition words
- etc
3. Block evaluations
Each block is evaluated individually. Penalties depend on the ratio of problematic blocks relative to the total number of blocks:
- Critical issues
- Warnings
