Statuses and workflow

Each post in Butterfly follows a lifecycle defined by statuses. This editorial workflow allows your team to collaborate efficiently, from writing to publication.

Available statuses

StatusDescription
DraftThe post is being drafted
To approveThe post has been submitted for validation
ApprovedThe post has been approved by an editor or administrator
PlannedThe post is scheduled for future publication
PublishedThe post is online and accessible to the public
TrashThe post is deleted (recoverable)

Typical lifecycle

  1. A writer creates a post in Draft
  2. Once finished, they move it to To approve
  3. An editor or administrator validates it (Approved)
  4. The validated post can be Planned for a future date or directly published (Published)
  5. A deleted post goes to Trash and can be restored

Note: The workflow is flexible. Depending on your organization, you can adapt the transitions between statuses.

Changing the status of a post

  1. Open the relevant post
  2. Edit the Status field in the edit form
  3. Save your changes

You can also change the status of multiple posts at once using bulk editing.

Viewing the workflow

The Kanban view offers a visual representation of your workflow. Each column corresponds to a status, and you can move posts from one column to another via drag-and-drop.
