Taxonomies and terms

Taxonomies allow you to create custom classification vocabularies for your posts. Each taxonomy contains terms that you can assign to your content.

Note: This section is reserved for administrators.

Understanding the concept

  • Taxonomy: A classification vocabulary (e.g.: "Region," "Theme," "Target Audience")
  • Term: An entry in this vocabulary (e.g.: for the taxonomy "Region": "Europe," "North America," "Asia")

Accessing taxonomies

Go to the Administration section of the sidebar, then click on Taxonomies.

Creating a taxonomy

  1. Click on Create a Taxonomy
  2. Enter the taxonomy name
  3. Save

Adding terms

  1. Click on an existing taxonomy
  2. Click on Add a term
  3. Enter the term name
  4. Save

Modify or delete

  • Modify: Click on a taxonomy or term to edit its name
  • Delete: Click on the delete icon

Usage in posts

When creating or editing a post, you can select terms from your taxonomies. The terms are also available as filter criteria in the post management.

Tip: Use taxonomies for classification dimensions that categories alone don't cover (geography, audience, format, etc.).
